Old and new friends

Not much going on these summer days for the Stillwater family. The greatest thing happening this summer is the arrival of Lilja. A beautiful little angel has been added to the now big and strong Stillwater family tree.

On the 14th of August we are going back to our friends in Åsgårdstrand. This is the third time were visiting Rådhuskvartalet and the great people in Åsgårdstrand. This time we will be accompanied by Martine Biong. A singer/songwriter with celtic and country inspirations. Check her out at MySpace

Summer sightings

Summer is closing in and Jack Stillwater is in the final preparations for three great summer gigs.

First is the "Sommer på kulturtorget" in the 12th of June in Mysen. Together with Anna Jonsson, Torbjørn Undeland and Ila Auto he stage is set for an evening of great music in a great environment. Kulturtorget is the "rebirth" of the old school building in the center of Mysen. This is the school where Morten spent his first six years at school. A bit nostalgic, but mostly great fun... ;)

On the 18th of June were heading up north to play at Midtsommerfestivalen in Dyrøy on Staurday the 19th. The festival headliner, Tommy Tokyo, and the local guys in Shade will accompany Jack to make yet another memorable mid summer festival. We are really looking forward to the wonderful atmosphere and people of Dyrøy again!

On the 14th of August were coming back to Åsgårdstrand. This is the third year were playing in the wonderful intimate outdoor scene at Rådhuskvarteret, and it's going to be great to come back! More info later...

Stillwater dynamics.

First, the Emergenza adventure came to an end for us in the semi finals. Sad, but ok. It would have been great fun to make it to the finals and play at Rockefeller together with other great bands!

Anyways... The dynamics of Jack Stillwater the past year has barely been any dynamics at all. We have been struggling to get stable rehearsal facilities that don't cost to much. This is a challenge for all bands in the Oslo area. There are options, but options costs and there are lots of bands waiting in line. So we ended up at the wolf (Norsk: Ulven) together with about two hundred metal bands that all have amplifiers that go to 11. Not a place we'd like to stay. So were back in the process of finding a suitable room, so if you have any ideas, please contact us!

Amplifiers that go to 11 is not the only parallel to ST these days. Our drummer, Lars Even, has left the band searching for new musical challenges! Our best of luck to you Lars! This was about to turn to minor/major crisis (Ref: det er krise...) since we are going to play a couple of gigs this summer in Mysen and Dyrøy. But we didn't waste any time and we would like to welcome Arne Harald Foss to the Stillwater family tree. Arne Harald played together with Ståle in the band Velter some years ago, and some people might recognize him as the drummer in Derringer.

As we have mentioned earlier we are planning a new album. It was originally scheduled for recording in mid August, but with a new drummer we have decided to postpone the recording. Instead we will focus on preproduction of the album to really get Arne Harald going. We are still hoping to record this year, and if we are lucky we might even get a release in 2010.

Two quite special gigs are planned for this summer. On the 12th of June we will play at Kulturtorget in Mysen together with a local band (I'll post the name when I know) and Ila Auto. This looks to be a great evening with great music and hopefully lots of old friends from back home.

the other gig is way up north in Dyrøy. Same festival as we played last summer, but this year we will team up with Tommy Tokyo. With last years success in mind, this will be a top weekend of whole 2010!

Soo...

We made it to the semi finals in the Emergenza festival. Thanks to all people who gave their votes to us! We still don't know the exact date of the semi final we will play, but it will be 14th, 15th, 16th or 17th of April at John Dee, Oslo. More information on that later!

In the mean time we would like to encourage you to spread the word around. In the semi finals we will need massive support to make it through to the Norwegian final. As soon as the date is announced a Facebook event will be created to make it easy for you to invite all your friends to what might be one of the most memorable Stillwater nights in 2010.

No news is good news...

...but an update wont hurt.

It's been a long time since last update here on www.jackstillwater.com. Since last time we have celebrated Christmas, new years, the Birth of Lisa (congrats to Bodil, Ståle and Emma) and of course writing new music. The past six months has really been a bit of a downer for Jack Stillwater due to rehearsal room problems and a lot of personal things going on.

But, all these ting to side, we are back on track.
Yesterday we played the Emergenza festival preliminary round at Sub Scene in Oslo. It seems that we made on to the semi finals at John Dee. More info on that later.

We are currently planning to record a new album during late summer this year. Terje is writing new songs, and the band is working hard to create a clear direction for the next album. We wont give you any details yet, but the essence will be Terje's voice and lyrics framed by a somewhat darker and more electric sound than our first album "Jack Stillwater". Exiting months are ahead of us!

As for live performances we have booked two great gigs this summer. The first is in Mysen, Morten's home town, and the second is Dyrøy, Terje's home town, where we played last summer.

Stay tuned for more information about a possible upcoming show in Oslo. (May be the only one in Oslo this summer, and it may be free....) And don't forget to hook up with us on Facebook for more information about shows etc.

Studio

Jack Stillwater spent the weekend at Rockehuset in Halden to record preproduction's of three new songs. The songs will be mixed together with some good friends, and hopefully presented to you by this weekend. Check out our MySpace for new Stillwater music...

New music update...

Jack Stillwater are currently working on new tunes for future releases. Yes, releases. The complete release scheme is not yet decided, but we might be looking at two smaller releases and one major release within the next year or so.

JS returns to Åsgårdstrand

This Saturday Jack Stillwater comes back to Åsgårdstrand and Rådhuskvarteret. The band had a great time here last year and are excited to come back!

JS preparing for midsummer festival.

Jack Stillwater nominated to the MP award!

Jack Stillwater is nominated to the Norwegian MusikkPraksis award. On the 10th of February the voting starts and the band with the most votes wins. As simple as that. There are two different prizes to be won. One is a studio equipment prize, and the other is a live equipment prize. Lots of great equipment to be won!

Jack Stillwater releases debut album on February 9th!

It's official! Jack Stillwater will release their debut album "Jack Stillwater" on February 9th

The album will be released on the bands own label, Inner East Record, together with Musikkoperatørene.
